Serious Question: How do you know that the Hauln’ Ass Poster girl in the yellow is actually wearing green moon boots? I’m curious because because as I’m in the photography business one idea I had was to put together a 25 year reunion shot. Exactly replicate the scene in the original poster. Even made an effort to order the “frontal” view of these girls but the money-order came back “return to sender”.
The Maysles did a pretty good documentary, “Haulin’ History,” about the making of this poster (Jean Bach kind of copied this idea with the “A Great Day in Harlem” doc ). They interviewed the photographer and all the women, etc. Claudia mentioned that she was wearing green moon boots that day because she had just gotten back from doing some errands and she was wearing the boots for that because they were comfortable and when she got to the shoot and said “Let me change out of these boots,” Bach said, “No one’ll see your shoes, just put on the top of your bikini and get in the truck”
